Joel Sastry, hailing from Hyderabad, India, is a guitarist, session artist, and music producer. With a background as a self-taught musician, he has performed live for over two decades with various bands, exploring genres ranging from Progressive Rock/Metal and Pop to Gospel and Indian film music.
Since 2012, Joel has dedicated himself full-time to session work in the Indian film industry, primarily focusing on the Telugu Film Industry. Currently, he is embarking on a new path to create and produce original music both for himself and for independent artists.

Q. What initially attracted you to Taylor acoustic guitars, and how did you first become acquainted with the brand?
Joel: The very first time I heard a Taylor guitar was in Church, I was shocked at how whole, the guitar sounded connected to Bad PA directly, This got my attention.
Q. Tell us about your guitar. Can you describe the specific qualities or features of Taylor guitars that made you choose them over other acoustic guitar brands?
Joel: I play a CE 214 DLX ( no electronics ), the Year 2017, Grand Auditorium Shapes, solid Sitka spruce top, Layered Rosewood Body Woods, Tropical Mahogany Neck, West African Crelicam Ebony Fretboard. I didn’t have many choices while buying, as I bought it from a used Market in the EU.
Q. How do you feel Taylor’s commitment to innovation and craftsmanship influences the sound and playability of their guitars?
My simple answer to this is, that I never played a bad-sounding Taylor till today & the Craftsmanship has always left me in “ awe “
Q. Did you have any specific criteria or preferences in mind when selecting your Taylor guitar, and if so, how did the brand meet or exceed those expectations?
Joel: I like the ( AAA ) size, that’s a little small & you’ll find it common with the Grand Auditorium Shapes. Also, I wanted the guitar with Electronics however, I had no option, as mentioned, I bought the used guitar from the marketplace.

Q. Taylor guitars offer a wide range of body shapes and sizes. How did you decide on the specific model that best suited your playing style and preferences?
Joel: I always preferred the Grand Auditorium Shapes ( AAA ) size as it’s much easier and more comfortable to play, keeping my body type & my height in mind.
Q. Taylor guitars are often praised for their playability and ease of maintenance. Can you share any insights into your own experiences with the setup and upkeep of your Taylor instrument?
Joel: Living in India, you’ll need to pay a little more attention to where & how you store your guitars, especially in summer, I try my best to keep the guitar under 22 Degrees.

Joel: You can never go “ Wrong “ investing in Taylor Guitars. You need to know which shape & body type you need before buying one.
